Drunk Passenger Headbutts Flight Attendant on Emirates Flight to Islamabad

A Twitter/X user posted a video showing a very drunk looking passenger having an altercation with a flight attendant. That passenger ended up headbutting that flight attendant before being thrown to the ground and subdued by the crew. While the headbutt did not look to have injured the flight attendant, it was quite the aggressive move.

I'm curious to see how this is going to work out for the passenger. The UAE is a dry country, and they usually take offenses very seriously. If this had been a flight into the UAE instead of departing, I'm very sure the local authorities would have taken him into custody and had a very harsh punishment. The country does not mess around when you break the law.

Emirates did release a statement:

Emirates can confirm that there was an unruly passenger on flight EK614 travelling from Dubai to Islamabad. The passenger was restrained by cabin crew and upon arrival, was handed over to the authorities.

The safety of our passengers and crew is of critical importance and Emirates strives to ensure this is never compromised. Emirates is cooperating with the authorities at this time and cannot comment further.

There is no reason to get that drunk or even offensive towards flight attendants. As such, I really don't see a reason why somebody should be drinking that much to be intoxicated. And nothing could ever be so bad that you end up attacking a flight attendant.

I'm not sure if it's just my experiences, but I've seen it all. I've had major flight delays, cancellations, diversions, and even not getting my pre-ordered meal. And at no point have I ever thought to raise my voice, or even attack the flight attendant. At the very least, passengers like this should be put on a no-fly list.
