Review: Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club BOS

Chase, known for having one of the best travel credit cards around, is lacking in actual airport amenities. While their competition has a whole network of lounges, Chase just as of recently have slowly been opening up their own lounges. One of their first lounges was in Boston. However instead of being managed by the large financial institution, they chose to contract the lounges with The Club who run a network of Priority Pass lounges.

While The Club has some alright lounges, they usually aren't the best and very basic. So let's find out if the Chase Sapphire Lounge lives up to the hype.

Access

As the lounge suggests, it is meant exclusively for Chase Sapphire credit card holders, specifically for their Reserve card. Additionally, those who hold the J.P. Morgan Reserve card or the Ritz-Carlton credit card are also granted complimentary access.

While the two Reserve cards allow only two complimentary guests, if you happen to hold the Ritz-Carlton card there are unlimited guests. Which are very similar to the general Priority Pass rules.

Food and Beverage

The food and beverage options are plentiful and extensive. There are lots of small plate options that are made fresh and refilled constantly, you'll find now big vats of food around here.

I enjoy the small bite options, meaning you don't have to worry about overtaking any food and you can get a wider selection of choices to pick from. I started out with some hot honey chicken, a vegetable succotash, and home made rice crispy square.

If you need something more substantial, there is a self order option where you can request bigger dishes. I ended up getting a burger with fries, which was cooked perfectly! There were also local, and more healthy, options from features chefs and unique dishes.

If you're thirsty, there's a dedicated beer bar with multiple local small craft sections. All complimentary of course.

And if beer isn't your style, there's a full bar that has some specialty drinks and can make anything under the sun at your request. I will note, I was there on a semi-busy day, and it took quite a bit of time to get my drink made. Even though they were fully staffed behind the bar with 4 people making drinks. It took about 10–15 minutes to get served.

There were certainly not a shortage of food options and the quality was above and beyond, even what some competing credit card lounges offer.

Seating

Seating was extensive and there was no shortage of seats even during the busy afternoon. The lounge did a pretty alright job at regulating people into the lounge.

There were nice lounge areas right behind the welcome desk.

Also, some nice long couches to git back and relax.

The bar area is also quite large if that's where you choose to socialize.

And even towards the back of the lounge there's family rooms and quiet areas to relax and hang out.

Atmosphere

I was very impressed with the atmosphere of the lounge. Even though it was busy, it maintained a nice low rumble and was easy to get some work done. I am a sucker for nice wooden interiors, and they pull it off nicely.

If you know of how The Club usually appoints their lounges, they're fairly basic and decor could be seen as non-existent. There is always a lack of seating and not much variety.

While it seems like The Club is operating the lounge, they've very much taken the design queue and direction of Chase when it comes to how they are operating the lounge. Which is absolutely a good thing.

Final Thoughts

While my first thought of a lounge being operated by The Club would be an indicator of past experiences, I was pleasantly surprised. The food options are phenomenal and better than you'd even find at American Express lounges.

If Chase keeps up the quality, I will hope they continue to expand beyond their small footprint, they have the potential to be the best credit card lounges around.
