What Are Miles & Points Worth? October 2017 Valuations
Not all miles and points are alike, every loyalty system values their currency differently. The way that we value miles and points is a combination of our estimated cash value and overall value of the program. The actual cash value of your miles and points will change depending on when you book and time of the year.
This is our first release of our valuations of miles and points and we plan to make monthly updates to our valuations as programs change and announce new features. We do our best to update the most popular programs as best as we can as we see fit, and we may add notations on major changes.
Our valuations are powered by most of our personal experiences and the experiences of our readers. We invite you to share your own valuations and experiences with these programs as feedback for our next valuation update. Valuations that we’ve come up with for this release are conservative on their value and you may find even better valuations based on time of the year.
One big example of this is with Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints, one reader managed to get 9.5 cents-per-point on a property during an off-peak time of the year, way over the 2.5 cents-per-point that we average out the program to be worth.
